The Kid from Akron ​

 The story of LeBron James is one of struggle, success, and surprises. LeBron James' story is the epitome of Rags to Riches. Growing up below the poverty line, without a father, and another family it would be hard for anyone to overcome these seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Basketball was more than a sport for LeBron, it served as an escape from the struggle and turmoil that he faced in Akron, Ohio (which he later put on the map). LeBron James even lived with another family so that his mother could support both of them and not be homeless. Through the support of his coaches, family, and friends he was able to become arguably one of the best high school basketball players of all time. He was able to make it to basketball's greatest stage, the NBA, and serve as an inspiration and role model for everyone around him. even though his talents on the court is what he is mainly known for, "King" James sets himself to a higher standard in terms of social activism. LeBron went from wondering where his next meal was going to come from to brushing shoulder with the upper echelon of society and having more money, fame, and popularity than he knows what to do with. Even when he made the NBA, his youth alone gave him a huge amount of doubters who didn't think that an 18 year old could rival with several of the greatest athletes in the world.  LeBron James is known around the league as one of the main voices for social justice, and uses his platform as a superstar to highlight issues like Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice, and Eric Garner.  To recap, LeBron's childhood to high school years would be his rising action, while his climax would be winning his first championship in the NBA, his falling action would be his years in Cleveland, with him saying he has done everything he can for the game of basketball and that it's time to move on and try to make more of a difference outside the game of basketball for others. The resolution would be all the charity work and social change he tries to enact with his platform and work. While LeBron is the protagonist because of his determination and hustle to become the best basketball player and person he can be, his antagonists would be whoever would discourage him and try to prevent him from becoming the superstar that he has inevitably become. Audiences can relate to his story even if they didn't come from the same level of poverty Lebron came from. Audiences can relate to having to overcome diversity and facing challenges to get to where he or she wants to be.  The action would be pursuing one's dreams and accomplishing one's goals to progress in life. The honest struggle , although not relatable to everyone, can be understood as someone who is facing obstacles on and off the basketball court to do something that he loves (playing basketball) and become a somebody despite his town and situation. His relevant challenge would be him struggling in his early challenging, on the brink of poverty and growing up without a stable family. The worthy lesson that can be learned from LeBron's story is that no matter what the odds are hard-work and determination is more important than what the odds are. Also, being good at something isn't enough, being a good person and advocating for what is right in our world is the most important thing we need as a society today.
